There has not been major activity on my desk this week, but I am pleased to say the house is clean, ironing and gardening done. ( just a mo while I polish my halo!!)
Here is my desk today
now I had a little tidy up to make space and to fit in a pretty cake stand and glass dish I bought at a Vintage Fair. I am collecting China for a Vintage Tea party later in the year ( you know, special birthday and all that!) I will be making lots of lovely vintage decorations as we go along. On my desk are some scrabble tiles to make a sign for the toilet door and some die cuts in cello bags. For the eagle eyed who spotted the Washi Tape, near the sweet tin, this is my bargain of the week from Tesco, three rolls for £2.99!!
Now here are the die cuts stitched together to make bunting!
This is easy to do and you can use any shape. Just set the sewing machine to a long stitch and stitch in a continuous line gradually feeding the next shape under the foot.
If you are wondering why I am showing my desk, click on the link to WOYWW button in the left sidebar which will take you on a journey to Stamping Ground and around the world.
you look very industrious, love the decorations you're making. have a good day. Helen 2

The piece you have to the left of the picture reminds me of the card on my desk. Aqua and red are an awesome combo, I think!!
ReplyDeletexxDaniella#87
Tis my packet of baby wipes, lol, but yes good colour combo!
DeleteLove the cake stand - I have one very similar. I used to collect them but ran out of space to keep them! Do I spy an old Quality Street tin?
ReplyDeleteA vintage tea party sounds a fab idea:)
Thanks for visiting me earlier.
Happy WOYWW. Susi #61
Yes indeed an old Quality Street tin. I remember we used to have that size at Christmas along with the dates and lemon jelly slices. Bit of a change from the tins of sweets we have now!
DeleteThanks for the visit Karen I've join your blog cause I'm gonna be back to see all the you create for the tea party which I'm crazy about and all your other things, you seem like my kinda girl:):) my DS is a textile artist living in Cambridge England so I can relate, have a wonderful day...
ReplyDeleteSo thrilled you have joined my blog, I hope I keep you entertained!
DeleteI am not far from Cambridge, am in Essex.
Hi Karen! I am a BIG tea fan, and have ton of tea parties with my nieces, and some with my Jane Austen group etc. I can't wait to see your vintage decorations as you make them! I am loving that tray you picked up! I collect teapots and cups and it is cool to "meet" another tea lover. Love your garland! How delicate it looks. Thanks for the kind visit today! Until next time! Winnie#73
ReplyDeletePlanning the tea party sounds like a lot of fun. Love the easy bunting idea! The butterflies look so spring-like.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about the 'white pots' on my desk...
If you're talking about that row of white 'pots' in the background on top of the drawer unit - those are 2.5" pieces of 1.25" PVC pipe to hold my stickles bottles upside down. They are mounted into a strip of 1x2 lumber hubby routed out with a keyhole bit. I can see the colors, the stickles stays in the tip and they are lined up ready for use.
Kelly #123
So they are, it all makes sense now!
DeleteIt sounds like the tea party is going to be wonderful. I love the bunting!

ReplyDeleteI love the bunting. If I tried that I would have a huge mess in my sewing machine, it hates me. Your cake stand is lovely and I like the plates in the stand next to it. Cute idea for the toilet sign.

Sometimes one just has to attend to other things...DARN IT! So now that you have all your chores out of the way you can have a great week creating. Love the idea of the vintage tea party. I have a friend who says that all birthdays which end in a zero last for a year! I used that theory on my last one, and had a great time. Thanks for visiting.

Never heard of scrabble tiles on the toilet door before now how many points do you get for going to the toilet? LOL Sorry couldn't help myself with that one, 6 I do believe.
ReplyDeleteI so love the idea of a vintage tea party, my niece had one for her 21st and collected old tea cups and saucers and had a high tea party, was so grand with all the finery.
