What's on your workdesk Wednesday? 256

Well here I am today, not at my desk today but at the table with my sewing machines. I have a few sewing projects to do so have spent some time cleaning, de-fluffing and oiling the machines (polishes halo!).

Now' having watched the Great British Sewing Bee I found myself lusting after an over locker which was sure to make all my sewing perfect. I convinced the family to buy me one for my birthday but when I came to order could not get the one I wanted.

Then I saw on line this machine attachment which was inexpensive and would cut and sew at the same time. I was not convinced but thought it might be worth a try.

and it does just that!
This was a furnishing fabric and was fraying quite badly.

So I made two dust covers for my machines ( I am going to keep them out and use them more, of course!). On one I used the new attachment and on the other I used the over lock stitch without the attachment. I have to say that although the cutting attachment was slower and a bit clunky it did give a much neater finish.

I have also purchased an box with 15 assorted feet for my machine that can do everything else, so brace yourselves!

Silhouette Scenes and a Signpost

Sharing two images from my work currently being exhibited at Southwold. See exhibitions page for more details.

They are layers of fabric and hand stitching.

(apologies for the photograph quality)

As part of an installation I made a signpost and a series of little dolls. This is about how we strive to be perfect and sometimes it becomes too hard to do everything. It is about not being too hard on yourself.....it is ok to let yourself off the hook!

Wedding Album 2 -page 9

This is one of my favourite pages, the photographs really capture the joy of the moment. I had fun cutting  these polaroid style frames and used tiny punched flowers to depict the confetti.

Wedding Album 2 -page 8

A subtle layout allowing the photographs to shine through, leafy scrolls and some lettering complete the look.

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday? 255

Showing a shot of my desk this week although there has not been any crafting activity over the Easter Holidays. You can see a purchase of new fabric, wool and a huge reel of wire to make birds feet and other such things!

Over the Easter Break we celebrated my Daughters 30th Birthday so here is a picture of the cake she made herself!

and finally a picture of one of the sets of coasters I have been making over the last few weeks.

So if you want to have more desk adventures pop over to Stamping Ground where you can view desks form all over the world.

What's on your workdesk Wednesday? 254

Here is my Wednesday shot, although they are pictures of my work over the last two days.

My desk is covered with all the stamps I might need for my project.......

So I have moved to the table....... you can see my desk from the other end of the room in this shot. The plan is to make collage coasters, more than 50 of them!

And here they are drying in the garden.....phew!

Well this is my creative week, if you wants to see more pop over to Stamping Ground where there are many more desks to see.

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday? 253

Ok I confess last Wednesday completely passed me by! Here is my desk this week.............
Not very much activity but I have been busy Hunter Gatherer style acquiring new stuff. You can see some fabric ready to make Kindle cases and a naughty purchase of some project life cards.

In the foreground is my knitting and this is where all my time is going. It is a lovely lace shrug (pattern in Craftseller April edition). So far it is going well and all the holes are in the right place!

So if you would like to see more desks and what my creative friends are up to pop over to
Stamping Ground where you can find all the details.
