Speeches and a layout

Sharing with you today another page of the wedding album, the speeches. For this layout I converted the photographs to black and white so that they worked better together.

I stamped swirls on the background in red and black and added some pearls. The title was added using Safmat, a fantastic product if you haven't tried it.

Behind one of the pictures is a secret pocket containing the notes the groom made for his speech on the back of a receipt!!

Sunday Stamper Week 251

Here is my entry for Sunday Stampers with Hels Sheridan, you can see more about this weekly challenge by clicking the link in the sidebar.

This week it is called Mother Nature's Son.

I found this wire frame in one of my boxes so I attached some of my collage backing paper to the frame and stitched round the edge. As a homage to Hels and her repeated flower making on Create and Craft this week, I made flowers. I stamped swirls in the background and added some butterflies too.

What's on your workdesk Wednesday 200

Well it was my intention to post early this morning what's on my work desk, but I wanted to show the finished layout and it took a little longer than planned.

If you are wondering what WOYWW is all about pop over to Julia's blog here or follow the link on the sidebar.

So here is my desk at the start of today, I am working on a wedding album so you can see all the lovely flowers, papers and goodies that I hope to use on the pages.

Here is the extra mess I made looking for a strip of lace!

After much messing around with the design I decided I wanted some swirls, but didn't have any pearls the right colour. So I decided to stitch beads onto the paper in the swirly shapes and to go across the photographs in some places.

So here we are three hours later.....

Butterflies and a lawn!

Hope you all had a lovely Easter Holiday....

We had a busy time working in the garden so there was no time for making. I promised a before and after so here they are.

Before....

And everyone conked out after...... a lawn at last after waiting five years to get rid of the gravel!

Sharing with you today a sketchbook of butterflies I made a few years ago, it was a study of butterfly shapes in preparation for some canvasses I was making for an exhibition. The pages were all cut away and layered so you can see the pages below.

DIY Hair Slides

I have been looking for some new slides for ages and they are so expensive in the shops for what they are. So I decided to buy some of the blank slides from e bay and make my own using embellishments from my stash. So armed with my glue gun I set to work and here is the result 10 slides for much less than the cost of one in the shops.

My favourite is the vintage looking one with butterflies on, this was made from some fridge magnets which were a gift to me. They were too pretty to stay on the fridge, this is a much better use for them. I guess I will have to be careful when I get the milk out!!

The trouble with 10 more slides is they don't fit in the pretty pot I normally keep them in...oops.

The Guests Arrive

This is my first ever double page spread, I confess to being a feature photograph scrapbooker, so there will be a few challenges along the way with this album. I wanted to keep the pages quite crisp and a bit formal to show off the lovely features of the venue. I took my inspiration for the branches and baubles from a Christmas decoration in one of the photographs. I used my Tim Holtz Bird and Branch die for this for the baubles I used some peel offs ( another first for me!) coloured with pro markers.

And here is a close up to show the detail and a picture of me and my Bro!

As mentioned yesterday...work starts on the garden...so here is the before shot
